Did your period continue normally after Nexplanon?

I recently went onto Nexplanon, the birth control implant that goes into your arm. I had been on my period for two days when I had it put in and my period ended after another two days. So my period only lasted four days instead of its normal 7-8. When my oldest sister went on she got her period for a year straight, and when my other sister went on she got her period for four months straight. Did this happen to anyone else and should I expect this?
