How can I stand up for myself without seeming rude or insecure?

I get a lot of rude comments on the way I look. I don't think that many people have actually flat-out called me ugly, but I do get a lot of people insulting my looks fairly often, calling my appearance weird, or telling me that my appearance makes them  "feel uncomfortable" or "freaks them out". It's really quite hurtful. How should I go about standing up for myself? I don't want to seem insecure and make myself even more of a target but I also don't want to seem too rude and be even more hated. Help!!

Honestly, is just tell them to fuck off. They're saying something incredibly rude to you, so why shouldn't you be rude back? 
Well, you're bigger than me and better at turning the other cheek.
Maybe just reply with "thank you" and then walk off?

I would tell them to fuck right off. Your not there's to make people comfortable, if the way you look "freaks them out" tell them to close their damn eyes and keep their vial opinions to themselves. These people are probably insecure in themselves that's why they mean to you.

I'd honestly be like "then don't look at me?" Like seriously who says that to someone? Know that those people just have hate in their hearts and ugly souls.

If they tell you your look freaks them out, tell them GOOD. You're not here to please them. Every girl is beautiful in her own way and if they can't see that then fuck them! But maybe they're not saying it because your ugly but because you may have "resting bitch face" which tons of girls have! I have it. I look mad all the time even when I'm not. My bf always tells me I look like I want to murder someone or that I look like I just ran over five dogs lol. So they could be saying if you look mad a lot then it makes them uncomfortable or freaks them out. Maybe they are trying to flirt with you but don't know how. There's a lot of ways they could have meant that hun. But don't worry about what others think. Out of all the people who say negative things, there are thousands more who would say something positive. You just happen to be encountering assholes.
