Well she should know that leaving the bluiding is absolutely insane so yes most employers do not let you leave. Most will have drills to go to the safest place in the bluiding.

Yes, I teach preschool and we have regular drills for tornadoes.

I lived in Oklahoma so yes we had safety procedures and drills. We have a room that is mostly underground with no windows for such occasions.

Considering I work retail in not a small store (we do about $200,000ish/week,  around 30 employees) we do not have an official safe spot in place, I think when we had the last storm (about a week ago) we decided we would go into the guest bathroom because it didn't have a shower...I personally though thought the small hall would be better because it was more interior it just didn't have a door...

I'm a nurse and live in Alabama so we have them all the time. We have to move all patient beds into the corner of the room away from windows  when we have them.
