What happens when you tell your midwife that you are depressed?

I have been having very severe mood swings and depression since giving birth a month and a half ago. I need help. What happens exactly after telling them you are depressed? What did you experience? What questions were asked etc?

Answer

You want to go see a psychologist/therapist (cannot prescribe meds)  so they can talk to you about steps or just help to work on your problem. They may recommend you to a psychiatrist (diagnoses and prescribes) if they feel you may need to be prescribed medication. Often, psychiatrists and psychologists share a practice because they work in tendem. 
You can also skip a step and go straight to the psychiatrist if you don't want to talk it out.

Your dr can give you meds for pod and ppa you dont have to go to therapy or another dr unless you want to it is completely up to you

When i had my pp check up i had a quiz to take to evaluate my level of ppd and ppa i spoke up and said i have both my dr sent me a year script for generic prozac i had to have her up it from 10 to 20mg but im doing great once this year runs out im going to have my regular family dr write the script
