wine while pregnant?

So I'm making this anonymous just because I'm sure this is a touchy subject! I've read that a certain type of wine was fine to drink occasionally while pregnant. is that true? if so, what kind? have/do any of you ladies sip wine while pregnant? also, if it's safe, is there a certain time in the pregnancy that it's allowed? I'm just curious is all. Looking for all feedback! 😊

My doctor told me that it was safe to drink a small (sips here and there) amount of wine during the second and third trimester. She told me that the real issues arise when women are heavily drinking and told me that this is what the studies are mostly based on. She told me that babies do not get birth defects from you taking a sip of wine. They get birth defects from mothers drinking a lot of alcohol frequently. Honestly the whole obsession with not even taking a drip of wine is extreme. Reminds me of the SIDS thing. I know a lot of moms will say I'm a bad mom because sometimes my son sleeps on his stomach.

Why would you even drink wine while pregnant? I think that's the stupidest choice to make. Doesn't matter if it's a sip or not, what you can't wait 9 months then your wine when you're pregnant? 😒

Very small amounts (half a glass or just sips here and there) is 100% fine in your 3rd trimester! Some people say 2nd and 3rd trimester, but I have 2 friends who are labor and delivery nurses and one friend who is a midwife and they all suggest waiting until the 3rd trimester at least. I'm in my 2nd trimester and my OB said sips of things are completely fine. So I take sips of my husband's beers all the time! I'm not a huge wine drinker, but I'll probably have my half a glass every once in a while towards the end 😊

I know several people who had the occasional half glass of wine. By occasional I mean once or twice a month. Their doctors said it was fine for them and many other countries have different guidelines.

If you've talked to your doctor and weighted the risks, it is your choice and your baby.

I don't drink wine, so I don't have any suggestions. I wouldn't risk it though. But that's just me. Do what you want with yourself and fetus.

I always have a sip or two of my husband's. With my first three kids, I got drunk before I even knew I was pregnant. This is the only pregnancy I haven't had a drink (aside from the occasional sip) with. I have been told by my doctors that up to a (4oz) glass a week is safe.

Honestly I'm against drinking wine or any alcohol beverage during pregnancy because there is no real proof that it's safe or how much will and will not affect baby. There's too much from both sides and neither have been chosen as an exact answer. I've never heard of a specific one that's safe persay. If you're set on drinking wine I'd say only one cup and not early on in pregnancy at all. I'd say after 20 weeks or so. Just don't over do it and maybe ins with a low level. Hope this wasn't too snarky.

I didn't find out I was pregnant til I was 6 months and I was drinking wine 2 sometimes 3 times a week. I did quit once I found out, but I still have a healthy 13 day year old newborn and one of the easiest pregnancies with no complications
