how are you protecting your babies from the sun??

Idk what to do 😭😭😭 Babies aren't supposed to use sunscreen yet (I guess? So weird), hats don't fit my baby's tiny head, and she overheats in even just a diaper 😭😭😭 (we have tried on every type of sunhat we've come across in so many sizes and none fit her lil noggin!)
Like I am afraid to take her outside but I don't wanna shelter her or anything?! Idk what to do!
lol I feel like this sounds so dramatic but it's finally getting decent around here and that means BBQ season so idk what to do!! I don't mind not going- is that my option?! Do I finally have a great excuse to get out of situations?? Lol!

Here's a great article from What to Expect about this exact topic. In terms of a hat for your little one, I have the same problem. My baby girl's head is so tiny for hats, but bonnets are a whole other story! I have found that bonnets can be tied a little tighter and fit her much better if you're able to find one. They are also better protection because they have a more full coverage!

We got this hat off Amazon and it has a little drawstring in the back to tighten for a perfect fit. We stayed in the shade and even used sunscreen (after doing a patch test on her leg a few days before I knew we'd need it) but my daughter STILL got a little burnt 😢 we were outside ALL day but I thought between the shade, her hat, and sunscreen we'd be okay.

My pediatrician gave us an ok in sunscreen as long as it's UVA USB protective and mineral based (I have a zinc oxide one). Baby is 4 months and if you look zinc oxide is also what is in most diaper creams.

There is UV protectant clothes on the market. Some I've seen seem pretty light weight

Talk to your doctor about sunscreen. My little one is cursed with my fair skin. Talk to my doctor and they gave me some samples of baby sunscreen to try. They said to test it before slathering it on and then he should be OK. Then to wipe it off after we don't need the protection anymore. We bought a hat a little fan battery power, And a long sleeve swim suit
