When to start buying "bigger items"

Currently 28 weeks, not sure when to start buying all the bigger things [swing, bouncer, rock n play etc..]

I just bought the baby's travel system. It was on sale for Memorial Day. Original price was  $259 and I got it for $172 (taxes and shipping included).

I started buying things like that at 26 weeks. I thought maybe it was a bit early but I'm so glad I got started early because now that I'm 33 weeks, putting together the nursery sounds exhausting. So glad it's 90% done.

I published my registry at 28/29 weeks (6weeks before my shower) and already had gifts delivered to my home. I would start doing research and buying now, esp if you can space it out over several months to make it easier financially. Just one tip - make sure to add it to a registry first and then buy it off your own registry! You not only get perks for signing up for a registry, but also often have a longer window for returns. Don't buy anything now unless it's on a good sale (15%+ off) bc you get a completion discount on items not purchased. Buybuy baby and bed bath n beyond have 20% off coupons for signing up your email on line too. With Memorial Day weekend now and 4th of July you'll have another opportunity at big sales coming up.

I'm 33 weeks today and haven't bought any of the big items yet... but that's because we're moving soon.

I would feel more relaxed if I already had all the necessary items by now.

We started buying the big stuff as early as 10w! We wanted time to pick our set and slowly accumulate so we didn't have to spend a ton of money right before he was born, especially not knowing exactly how much the hospital is going to cost!

I would start now. That way you don't have to rush and get everything at the end. Chances of miscarrying at this point are really low if that's what you're concerned about.
