Stuck in the middle

Two of my best friends are currently not speaking and it's putting me in a tough spot.

A little background: Friend #1 is has been planning a weekend away for her birthday for a few months now. At first Friend #2 was all for it, she even went out and bought a new sexy outfit for the club.

Recently friend #2 has not been responding to any texts or fb messages about this b-day event. Also she started dating a new guy (He's 19 and she is 27 with a child). After some prying, we find out she never requested that weekend off and she wasn't planning on requesting it off. She blamed her ex, her mom, and finances (she lives in her mom's house and hasn't paid her anything in months)..but it seems it all boils down to she didn't want to go.

Friend #1 is hurt because she always puts forth effort for friend #2.

Both friends think the other is selfish/wrong. I don't know how to not get in the middle when they are both looking for me to take sides.
