Age issues

I like this guy. He was perfect to me but after finding out that he was too old i continued to not try to pursue anything with him. As I'm only 15 you may think I'm naive but I do understand the law... I think. Any way, I've decided to wait until I am atleast 16 before I even talk to him as friends again and maybe 18 for anything else. To reiterate he was the perfect guy at the wrong time, at the time he was coming into my families pub as FRIENDS. Am i making a mistake? I have never been able to get over him
