tampons vs pads?

I had a gyno once tell me tampons are bad for you. But pads feel gross after wearing them for a while. I switch depending on the outfit but now I've gotten so used to pads that tampons feel weird. Am I the only one struggling to see what feels best?! What do you think is best/do you think tampons are bad for you?
