Charging to use landfill??💸💰💲

Does where you live charge you to take your garbage to the landfill?? Ours just started charging $5.00 a load and it goes up depending on the load size. Do you think this is a good idea or a bad idea? Personally so far I've seen its bad because people can't afford that or don't want pay it so now they just throw their trash all over our county. It's gross.

Not expensive compared to littering or dumping fines that range in the thousands. It's only new to you, it's already been in effect for years in other places and it works.

I pay $10.00 a month for unlimited garbage pick up by the city. That seems fair to me.

It costs money for them to dispose of it. Employees and equipment, etc. if they didn't charge - how would they be able to stay running?

My family has used a landfill for as long as I can remember and they've always paid and the town was never dirty.

Ours is by weight-$150 per ton I think. It should cost money to dump your shit forever, that has an impact on the city and the environment and you should pay for it or someone else will. Ideally it should get people to try to produce less waste-sucks that people dump elsewhere.

We either go to landfill or transfer station- They charge by the number and size of the garbage bags (30 gal v 50 gal bags) recycling is free

Ours is done by weight, there are these big scales you drive up on and they weigh your vehicle as you enter and weigh it again as you are leaving. You then pay a set amount per pound of trash dumped. Its not very much. We dumped some old couches, a dishwasher, a bunch of scrap lumber and concrete, boxes full of old junk. It was two full size long bed pickup truck loads and fairly heavy... came to about $21 total.  As rarely as we use it I dont mind paying that. We have regular trash pickup as well that we pay a quarterly fee for but when you have a bunch of stuff to get rid of at once its not a bad price for dumping at the landfill.
