Adult DCF?

Question

Should there be a version of DCF/CPS that applies to adults? For example, should there be a hotline someone could call to report potential abuse? It would work in a similar way as DCF. The allegations would be investigated and the case worker would decide if the case is abusive or not. However, unlike DCF, the abused person wouldn't be taken away from the abuser. Purely given information about safe places and how to get out. It's common for people to be scared to speak up about abusive relationships, and this could possibly save lives. However, I could also see some possible cons

There is something like this in some states. But they usually only cater to severely disabled people.  However 211 can give information on safe places

There is, It's called Adult Protective Services and it's for adults who aren't considered they're own power of attorney, usually for the elderly or disabled.

I think this is a great idea. The only potential downside is that if the victim chooses to stay, sometimes the abuser will lash out at them after the authorities leave, for "making them look bad". But you take that risk any time you report abuse, so I definitely think this could be a thing.

There is... Its called adult services and its for those who aren't fit to take care of themselves and their caretakers are mistreating them. I don't think there should be the same for abusive relationships. I'm sorry, but if you're competent and able bodied you should be able to get out of those situations with the resources available to you. There are shelters, programs, and the police to protect you. Once you're an adult, its time to start caring for yourself. 
Another reason I don't agree with having that sort of program for adults is because what are they going to do if the abused doesn't want to leave? Forcefully remove them? That's not legal. A lot of abused people aren't ready to leave abusive relationships and in some cases never want to leave. It'd be a waste of money and resources. That person needs to want help and when they're ready, they'll look for it.
Its not easy to leave relationships, especially of the abused is dependant upon the abuser, but its not impossible. Just have to want it bad enough.

We have safeguarding in the U.K. Anyone can make an 'alert' by contacting the local authority. Issues around a person's mental capacity as defined in law) is taken into account when considering whether an individual consents to the safeguarding process
