what does a miscarriage feel like?

I was a few days late getting my period this month- was sure I was pregnant. We have been TTC for 9 months. 
When I got my period it was very heavy and painful, with severe cramps and lower back ache and nausea. 
I'm also so tired, I can't keep my eyes open. And my limbs feel so incredibly heavy, it's exhausting to stand up and walk.
This is not at all like my normal period. Could this have been an early miscarriage?

Mine felt different. Just like people say every pregnancy is different, in my experiences every miscarriage is also different. 
It is possible but the only way to know is if there is HCG in your system.   
What you are describing sounds like some of my normal periods because they tend to be very heavy. A few times I have ended up with low iron from my period and had to get supplements. *if that is happening try to have them give you supplements. the shot is very painful. *

During my miscarriage I passed many, many, many clots for about six days. It was heavy bleeding.
