What should I do?

I know I need therapy/help but I think I can handle this on my own. I have a problem talking about my issues and asking for help/favors. I literally get anxious when I do. I know the reason why I'm like this is mostly because 12 years ago I was going through a tough time in my life and someone I trusted and held dear abandoned me and I had no one. So from that day on I kept quiet about most of my problems although he apologized for it 6 years later.
Should I confront this person and have a 1 on 1 and actually get everything out of my chest?
