Smoking and pregnancy

What do you ladies think about nicotine and pregnancy? If you're addicted to it and quit cold turkey it's harder for you. I did that last year when I found out and wound up miscarrying. This time I'm afraid to quit but am gonna lower the amount of nicotine intake until I wean off it. Is that safer than quitting cold turkey?
