Natural drug free labor turned C Section...

Alyssa • TTC #2

My contractions started to become consistent at about 11pm on Monday night. I timed them all night and at 3am, I was confused with contractions lasting 30 seconds, but only 2.5 minutes apart. I stayed home until 6 when we drove to the hospital. I was 5cm dilated upon arrival at 7am. By 9am, I was 9cm, so the doctor broke my water. A minute later, I was at 10 and started pushing. It started out ok and the pain was horrible but I was happy to be epidural free. Then I pushed for 2 hours. He wasn't coming. The doc tried different positions and everything he could. He asked if we wanted to move to a c section. At that point, I was so exhausted from not getting any sleep and I was discouraged due to the lack of progress in my pushing... So I said yes.

They gave me a spinal block and pulled the sweet happy healthy little boy out! It was a really cool experience.

Recovery is difficult as I am extremely swollen from pushing and wasn't able to pee on my own for 3 days. I also have the incision which caused me to not be able to use my abdominal muscles for almost a week.

TL;DR: Labored for 10 hours, pushed for 2, baby wouldn't come, so we did a c section.
