How Many Months Did Your VR Surgeon Give?

Our VR surgeon gave us a few months before the sperm levels came back (my fiancé had an 8.5 year old vasectomy at time of surgery). Well, his counts have been fluctuating the last year. My GYNO said it didn't look good when I told her and his surgeon wasn't happy with the numbers. Then, two other successful surgeons and our family doctor said not to worry and that numbers wouldn't stabilize until a year after surgery. I am hopeful since we have come to a year after surgery last month. Still don't know who to listen to!

What time frame was everyone else given for sperm and motility to stabilize?

It's almost been one year since my husbands reversal (after 5 yrs)....first test showed low motility and lower numbers but we were just happy there were swimmers. Doc to said to return if we're weren't pregnant in a couple of months.....so no luck with definite time. He's Going back for another sperm test this month and I'm getting checked out too just in case.

We was told to go back after 16 weeks to give a sample. 
Which we have just done and his results have come back as normal! Like he never had a vasectomy in the first place! 
Which is amazing results and we are over the moon!

@Karla...I know this is an old post but wanted to follow up to see if you guys had any improvement in counts or if your dr’s put your husband on anything to improve counts? My husbands #’s suck 10 months post reversal & they wont put him on chlomid because his testosterone levels came back normal so they said it would work against us & lower counts. He’s on a ton of supplements but I feel like those are just wasting money. Grasping at straws trying to educate myself on how to help if I even can. Thank you & baby dust!

I would be interested to know too.  My husband had a VR in January 2017 after a 12 year period with a vasectomy. He had 17.5 million per milliliter but low morphology and motility. His surgeon released him as a success but now nine months after surgery I wonder if this is why we haven't had any luck.

My husband had the reversal August 1st and tested a month later and his count was 282 million! But motility was only 5% (which is normal that soon after), the doc put him on a diet in addition to vitamins to help increase it.

When they tell you sperm stabilize after a year. BELIEVE IT!! If you’re lucky you can conceive before then but there are a lot of studies with couples who conceive before the 12 month mark and the numbers are low. It took us exactly a year

My husband had a surgery after about 7.5 years or so. He didn't tell us when the sperm would come back he said it could take a while, for some people right away, for some people months, for some people years and for some people not at all. Like you read in my other post we are going into month 10 and I try to remain hopeful but it's hard.
