Does 7 days of spotting = light period?

I've been regular for 25 years, never missed a period without being pregnant. Two weeks ago, aunt flow was AWOL. A week ago I saw my Dr. Who verified I was not pregnant, and tested thyroid and hormone levels. Later that night I got the slightest tinge of pink and was like oh there you are! Except it never really started, does 7 days of spotting = a period? Even if it's so light you don't need a panty liner for 4 of those 7 days? I haven't changed anything and am not under any stress, in fact I've been less stressed the last few months, no new medications, no changes to schedule or diet or exercise. I'm just wondering if I should put it on the calendar as a period or not, figured I'd ask you lovely ladies.
