Filters and selfies, do we look at men differently?

Co
Kind of a random thought from that Snapchat post, and also a combination of my family, friends, and boyfriend expressing their thoughts on this, is it weird to you when men take selfies/use filters? 👈🏻•this is the poll question•
Does it register on your radar more negatively than when women do so? Like do you think differently of them than you would if they were a woman.
My goal is not to hash on men who do, as I couldn't care less what someone does with their selfies, and anyone can take a drop dead gorgeous selfie, but I am curious if men participating in selfies are seen differently than women.
My boyfriend actively avoids pictures of himself. Stating that men who take selfies are probably conceited, when pressed further, like does that make ME conceited, he's quick to say no, and that if a woman does it's fine. When pressed for WHY it's fine he can't really explain his reasoning. Just that "it's what they do".
My assumption is that it's probably because he associates femininity with selfies, so it's not manly for a guy to do it, and if they do it's a negative thing. It's something we'll probably work on as I'm not a fan of the negativity from him towards some of the people I follow on Instagram.
