Help!

Monday and Tuesday I had some brown discharge. I assumed it was still some old blood from not having a period for about 6 years. I've been off that pill for a year and 4 months now, so it seemed odd to still have that. I have had no discharge today. I texted a friend about it. She said she had some brown discharge around the time she found out she was pregnant. Is that normal? I'm 3 days away from my period but I don't want to waste a test.
