Very Unsure...

I am 5 (almost 6) days late, and my cycle is typically on the shorter side (24-26 days). We have been TTC for almost a year, and in that time I've been up to 4 days late before starting my period, but always with a maximum cycle length of 28 days. I'm on cycle day 32, and I have had no period symptoms. This evening, I went to the bathroom to find out that I was bleeding a little bit. It was dark brown, very little blood, and I only found it when I wiped. Almost 3 hours later, I returned to the bathroom, expecting that I had started my period, and I found no bleeding. When I wiped, there was a VERY slight amount of blood, again dark brown, but I still don't have any period symptoms. Am I being too hopeful thinking that I may have ovulated later than anticipated and this could be implantation bleeding? I will wait a few days before taking a pregnancy test, but my emotions are all over the place!
