Helicopter mom

So I'm moving to go to college, and I've found this apartment that I have the money to pay for the full 12 month lease, and I'm going to pay it myself. My mom is not okay with my boyfriend living with me, but it's my right to have him live with me right? He'll pay me back half of the rent, he's going to get a full time job to help pay everything else, and plus I feel safer having him there. What should I tell her that will explain my case?
