She came out the sunroof earlier than expected!

Due to having 3 miscarriages prior to this pregnancy I was having regular growth scans to make sure baby was developing normally. I didn't pay much attention to my hospital notes after each scan, they're for the doctors, not me!

When it got to the 36 week scan (meant to be the final one) the sonographer announced that the baby was breech. I should have known really, all the kicks I'd had for weeks were in the lower right of my abdomen. When I asked the consultant why no-one had mentioned breech at the previous scans he said they don't tend to tell women until 36 weeks because the baby can turn but according to my notes bubs had been upside down since at least 25 weeks!!

We made an appointment for them to try ECV so I could have the vaginal delivery I wanted but the day came (37+4) and it turned out that tiny had a nuchal cord. The consultant decided that it was too risky to try and turn baby so booked me for a c section at 39+5.

Headed off home feeling nervous but excited to have a date that we'd get to meet our little rainbow baby and find out the gender after all the waiting! We thought we'd have a few weeks to get everything ready but the next night at midnight my waters broke!!

We headed to the hospital and they confirmed that I needed to be admitted and sent for an emergency c section. By that point I was 37+6 and scared as hell, I was totally not prepared!

After 16 hours in the hospital waiting for a theatre slot to be available, I was wheeled in for the final prep. The anaesthetic hurt SO much when the needle was going in I was actually screaming. But it was all worth it when less than 10 minutes later, at 6:08 on April 5th our daughter, Freya Peggy, was born weighing 6pounds 8ounces and my husband and I fell in love all over again!
