Christians! Could you date an Athiest?

Question

So I am an Athiest; always have been and always will be. I completely respect those with religious beliefs, and I almost envy it, but I could never bring myself to believe. My boyfriend is Christian, and says he's completely okay with me being Athiest and respects my opinion, but I'm wondering, could you date someone that's an Athiest?

I know this isn't what you asked, but I am an atheist and I could not date a Christian. I just wouldn't be able to. So if a Christian says they wouldn't date me because of my believes, I'm more than okay with that.

I'm by no means the perfect Christian I don't go to church I don't live the right way, but I believe in god and nothing will ever make me think different. But my boyfriend doesn't believe. And we've been together for 4 years and have a child together. We just don't push out thoughts on each other.

I have in the past, and unfortunately they have always tried to change me. I believe in god and this brings me a lot of joy. It is a private thing that I don't often talk about, so I don't understand why people feel the need to control what I believe when they learn I am a religious person.

My husband is Christian as well but doesn't go to church often and I don't push him, his relationship with god is just different than mine.

I mean probably... It depends on if it's a long term thing or not. I'm Catholic but I want my kids to be able to choose their own beliefs. But I still want to baptise them, bring them to church, etc (I feel like that's a part of the process, experiencing different beliefs and such). But I would also let my spouse show them what they believe and maybe friends and other family members. I don't want to be constricting. But I also want my spouse to understand that I still want them to go to church with me, at least once and a while. God is very important to me and I don't believe you can force Him onto anyone. I want my kids to find Him for themselves. I'm accepting of all beliefs and I'd need my spouse to accept what I believe as well.

I'm currently dating a Lutheran and though our beliefs are similar they do have their differences. We both respect each other and we both want to let our kids choose their religion or lack there of. I think it really depends on what you want out of the long term.

But, yeah, long story short I'd date or even marry an Athiest as long as they respect my beliefs as well and want the same thing for our children.
