Pcos and Metformin

So I recently was diagnosed with PCOS last month after ttc and recent weight (that's hard to lose) my doctor prescribed Metformin 500mg three times a day to regulate my ovulation. Wondering how long will it take to regulate and how long would it help me conceive??
