no exam or anything in my first trimester?

Hey everyone I need some advice! I have my first dr appointment yesterday, I'm 8 weeks. And my dr didn't even check me or the baby or anything. I won't even have a pelvic exam until my second trimester. So ultrasound no heartbeat no nothing. Is this normal? I'm really uncomfortable with this and my dr doesn't seem to care. I have a different gyno dr that is 2 and a half hours away. I want him to be my baby dr but my husband doesn't think that is a good idea. (I would be induced when it was time for the baby to come) any thoughts? Is it normal to not have exams in the first trimester? With my son I have a few in the first trimester.
