Alcohol at a child's party,7yrs old

So yesterday my family and I went to a child's bday party. It was cute,nicely decorated and plenty of sweets,food and drinks for the kids. At another table their was an arrangements of beer,liquor and mixers. The majority of adults were drinking and playing along side the kids. It started off fine but by the time the kids were ready for the pinata the adults were tipsy and started to get obnoxious.One guy grabbed the pinata stick from the child and was telling him to "man up and swing like this" almost hitting another child. People started chain smoking cigarettes,liquor shots were being takin and it turned into an adult party fast. We ended up leaving before cake and ice cream. I couldn't help but feel like this was all way too inappropriate for a child's party. Don't get me wrong,I like to drink and have friends over but I would never do that at my child's bday party. What are y'alls thoughts on alcohol being at a kids bday party?
