is he weaning?

My little guy has LOVED solids since we started them around 4 months when he could sit up, and was showing tons of interest in what we were eating. I work FT, and pumping was not going well for me (I would pump for 1.5 hours throughout the day, and end up with 6 oz), so we transitioned to formula during the day, with breast feeding in the mornings and evenings. 
After 2 months of this, he's now barely taking 2 oz of formula at a time, and nursing for maybe 3 minutes, tops. Is he naturally weaning himself? I understand this is supposedly very rare for children under 1, and he is 8 months. (As aN important note, he's happy & healthy, so I'm not concerned- just curious).

No baby's don't naturally wean until over a year. You could be experiencing one of two things: 1. Reverse cycling- baby is too distracted during the day to take a full feed,   Baby would be eating more at night time. Feed them when they're sleeping before and after naps and more at nighttime. 2. Experiencing bottle preference/ nursing strike- baby only wants bottle and refuses breast. The way you describe it I would guess the first is happening. I would also discuss with your doctor as baby might also be getting too much solid food which is filling them up but not leaving room for formula or breastmilk which should be their main nutrient source.

It could be teething or a nursing strike. Keep offering breast/ bottle
