Is 16 too young to get an IUD?

I'm on the birth control pill but I find it hard to take my pill the same time everyday & I was interested in getting an IUD inserted, but am I old enough?

I would start from the least invasive for of birth control (pills, diaphragm, patches) and work up to more invasive (depo shot, nexplanon, IUD) and definitely research the different kinds to see which is right for you. 16 is definitely not too young. But research first.

I’m 15, turning 16 in a couple months and going into my junior year of high school. I just got the copper IUD yesterday, and while it hurt like a mf (even with the pain meds and numbing) I’m very happy with my decision and believe that everyone should be able to make the decision about birth control for their bodies and on their timing. My mom was very supportive through the process which definitely helped because the procedure does involve some paperwork and stuff like that. It is a big decision, but it can be removed before 10 years, and in the long term, the peace of mind and the fact that it’s a good non-hormonal option won me over :) Also i was on my period when I got it inserted which I heard can help with the discomfort because you’re a little more opened up in there.

If you haven't had a kid, I could image it'd be more painful, I've had a kid and mine was still painful to get put in!

I thinks it's not something you want to try your first time on birth control. Try the pill of the arm implant if you can't remember to take a pill. My younger sister got the implant her first time on bv and she likes it.

There's not a certain age to get one, my friend got hers at 14 and I got mine at 15.
