Need of some advice

I'm 20 and I have a lot of issues with my period and I tried birth control medication but none have worked and I been thinking of getting an iud inserted inside me but don't know if it's worth it and will it work cause I'm honestly scared cause I don't want to put myself at any risk.... Any advice
