leaving hospital, convertible carseat?

we have a convertible carseat for my LO who's due this week, with my son we used an infant carseat. I'm curious how the hospital requires you to leave do they have you bring the convertible carseat inside and then install it? or can you roll out holding the baby and a nurse watch you put them in?

A nurse will walk you off the unit. It's important to realize that nurses are not car seat technicians. Many have no idea how to properly use a car seat.

We had a stay in the car car seat and the nurse during discharge came to make sure he was properly buckled in and that was it

Every hospital is different. I would call and ask the hospital what the policy is. Your drs office may also know.

I have the convertible car seat and my hospital had to see the car seat !!! My bf installed it and that was it

My hospital won't let you leave if you don't have a carrying car seat. They will make you wait until baby can hold their heads until you can use a stay-in-car type seat.

some hospitals require a carrier some don't. call amd ask. most of them will just come verify that you have a carseat some will be more rigorous.

They may walk all the way out with you with baby in their bassinet, basically for insurance purposes they don't want baby to get dropped etc.. That's what they do at the birthing center here. We use a convertible from birth and they just came out with us to see it was installed properly and that baby got buckled up safely.

My hospital didn't give a hoot how he left. We had an infant seat and I expected them to check everything but they didn't. If we had a convertible we would've just walked right out.

With my daughter we had an infant seat the nurse cane out with us and watched us to make sure the base was installed correctly and that the seat sat correctly and her straps were nice and snug and the chest clips was at her armpit well as close as could be since she was super tiny that even the rolled blankets to help her stay in place looked gigantic next to her lol it was a small hospital and birth center and it was in the dead of winter and a snow and ice storm was just rolling in so the nurse wanted to make sure we didnt slip getting to and in the car
