transition from formula to milk help??

So my lo is almost ready to transition to cows milk he still drink 5-6 9oz bottles of formula a day plus 3 meals and snacks .. when I stop formula do.i give him the same amount of milk per day as I am formula?

I began reducing formula milk and replacing with food throughout the day. Giving water instead as well. Did that before I switched to cows milk, and then when I switched we were at 3 bottles - morning, afternoon & bedtime. Now we are backing off the afternoon bottle (he's 16 mos).  He transitioned really well!

I just asked ped this.  She advised no more than 16 ounces of cow's milk a day.  Offer it as a beverage not a meal.  I suspect you have to gradually reduce formula and have meals and/or snacks in their place.
