Will this affect my newborn?

My aunt is here from abroad to help me since I just had a baby. I am very appreciative of her help. Only downside to this, is that she is a heavy smoker, at least she has agreed to go outside and not smoke in my balcony. She does have that terrible cigarette smell wherever she goes tho. Will the smell on her of cigarettes affect my newborn or is it the actual cigarette smoke that does?

I would say if it's in her clothes, then yes. You don't have to be in direct contact with the cigarette/smoke to be affected.

It will affect the baby. I have already told the smokers in my life that they will have to wash up and change their shirt before holding my little one when she arrives.

It does affect baby. My mother-in-law left a clean shirt at our house and would change into it when she came and wanted to hold baby. We couldn't let our kids breathe that in.
