Having no bridesmaids?

So I lost a lot of friends and it's a long story, but basically I don't think I have anyone of the appropriate age/closeness to be bridesmaids for my wedding. How strange is it for us not to have bridesmaids/groomsmen?

I didn't have any bridesmaids at my wedding. I just had my cousins 10 year old twins to be the flower girls and also be the ring bearer. I don't have many close friends and my closest friends both have little kids that are too attached to mommy. To make it simple for all we decided to not have any. Also have to add that my husband only had his mom and his sister at the wedding since we did our wedding in PR (where I am from) and there is no middle ground or driving for others to get there with not much expense. So he didn't have anyone to be a groomsman and he didn't want "strangers" to be standing with him.  After the ceremony his sister and my aunt signed as witnesses the documents.

If I ever get married I don't want bridesmaids. I've never wanted them. I think it's more romantic and simple for it just to be the bride and groom.

I only had two and they were my very closest friends. I really don't think the parade of everyone you've ever known is necessary. Often I think it's WAY out of hand. I think no bridesmaids is totally fine.
