Bilingual children....
My husband's first language isn't English. He speaks fantastic English but we want our daughter to grow up being able to speak both languages equally well (none of my husband's family speak English and still all live in his home country) so when we go to visit we want her to be able to communicate in both languages. She is 11 months and my husband speaks to her in both languages. I speak to her in just English.
We aren't huge fans of our health visitor (she comes out with some real crap) so we have minimal contact with her and only see her on our daughters milestones/weight checks etc. She was saying that my husband should ONLY speak to her in his language and not English. At all. We both think this is stupid.
What's everyone else's experience of bringing their little ones up as bilingual?
