Saw a container of blood at my midwife appt yesterday 😬😷

So I had my usual two weekly appt at the delivery suite of my hospital and had to wait outside the midwife rooms because my midwife had just delivered a baby and was busy with the mother. As I'm waiting another midwife pushes a trolley from the room, it just has a bag of dirty linen from as much as I can see. When she returns for the next trolley though, I can see clear as day a big plastic tub container about 1/4 full of sloshing blood and I think something else... maybe placenta? anyway there had to be a few litres in that thing given the size... and it completely freaked me out 😨😰 does anyone know what this might have been? is there usually that much fluid that comes out with the placenta and why would they catch it in a tub??? Sorry I'm a ftm and it really disturbed me... lol
