Should we go?

So my husband and I just had our little girl 9 days ago! We're doing pretty well and she's a great baby. We're very lucky.

His parents visited yesterday and informed us that my husbands grandpa has bladder cancer and has been given a year to live. We live 2.5 hours from our hometown and his parents want us to come down asap to see everyone before grandpa passes away.

I understand, I really really do. But I just feel like that's asking for a lot from us. Taking our 2 week old baby on a long car ride, in the beginning of august --we live in the midwest so it is HOT and HUMID! Where we live it's about 70-80 everyday and where our parents live it's been in the 90s-100s this past week. Also at our newborn checkup today our dr said anyone could visit but to keep baby away from sick elderly people (literally his exact words 😩)

Not to mention we don't have a pack n play or big enough cars to bring our bassinet with us so where would our baby sleep? We would have to drive down and back in the same day which is so exhausting for me and my husband and not to mention our baby! I'm torn.

I understand that they want grandpa to see the baby and I do too I just think it's too soon.

I understand grandpa is dying but my baby and her health and well being (and my own) are truly more important to me.

What would you do? Should we go?
