Are epidurals worth it?

My mother got one with my older brother and says she had awful back pain afterwards for years. I've done research and found that that isn't a unique complaint. What other options of pain management are there that have worked for you? I have a very low pain tolerance and it's my first so I'm sure I'll need something

I had it with my first and didn't have any back problems after. I'm definitely getting one this time around.

Yes so worth it. I roughed it for 6 hours and once back labor hit I couldn't handle it. The epidural does not affect the baby in any way the other option they offer you does. And I don't have any effects from it

My mom has had back pain for 18 years now since she got it. I'll be going for all natural.
For other pain relief options, you'll have to talk to your doctor to see what your hospital offers. Some hospitals have laughing gas (mine doesn't)

idk I had some cramping and weird pains in my back for a year after birth. I had a csection. but my back actually feels better now then prepregnancy

Nope.  I had no control of the pushing or anything when I had the epidural. I also ended up needing a csection.  The time I didn't get the epidural it was seriously not that bad

I've had two and one failed and it of course would be when I'm having horrible back labor. They messed up my back so I'm doing this baby without one.

I had 20+ hours of horrible labor at only 3cm dilated from being induced. The epidural is the only thing that helped me avoid a C section! I dilated from a 3 to 10cm in less than two hours AND my water broke.

It was SO worth it. I have a high pain tolerance but laying around for hours sweating and cramping was so draining. As soon as I had the epidural down I felt great. Asked for an ice cream and to go for a walk around the halls lol the nurse said no because I was having contractions and the baby started crowning. I didn't even feel it!
