Scared to go poop?

I had my baby 2 days ago and i have a 2nd degree tear. Im scared to go poop. Will it rip the stitches open?

Are you still at the hospital? If so, ask your nurse to help you. They will assist you in doing so and can give you stool softeners to make it easier to pass so you won't strain. Drink a lot of fluids and eat softer, more easily digestible foods so you have an easier time passing the stool. I understand you're afraid of ripping or tearing, but it's also important that you don't hold in your stool because this causes it to become more hard in the colon and harder to pass. Reach out to your support staff and try to relax. Good luck.

Use a stool softener if you're comfortable doing so, sometimes pain meds will constipate you. Also, you can try sitting with a stool under your feet while at the toilet, this relieves some of the pressure on your bottom while you're sitting! They really do have poo-stools just for this ;) good luck. Lots of "tucks" pads were in my postpartum days!!

Apply counter pressure. I used a cool, damp pad and pressed on the stitches as I pooped.
