independent babies?

Anybody else's 6/7 month old very independent? I just put my son in daycare and I'm having more separation anxiety than he is! He doesn't cry when I leave. He reaches for anyone who puts their arms out. And I've watched him on the daycare camera stream and he will play alone for sometimes an HOUR.

When we're home I honestly can't be out of his sight for a second before he's yelling for me. I think it's awesome he can switch it on and off but I'm a little thrown off by it.
