Okay so I am currently halfway through my 4th pack of birth control. I am taking Junel FE 1/20

So on my first month using it my period came on time. The second month I started freaking out because instead of a period I got a brown spotting that was light that lasted for about a week (a week before my expected period start). I never got an actual heavy flowing period like usual. Well the 3rd month on it (last month) I got my period on time and was very much relieved. Well then again this month I am having the same type of brown spotting that is light and its a week and half before my period.

Is this because my body is still getting used to the pill? All my friends said they missed 1 or 2 periods while on it at the beginning as well. I have never missed a pill, except once I took it 3 hours late but that was while on my 1st pack.

Is this normal? Help please!

(P.S. My boyfriend has never came inside me. He always pulls out well before to be safe)
