Military paranoia

Been together for a long time and SO is so paranoid I don't know how to deal with it. Today he asked me if I was being paid to date him. If I was under contract and just happened to fall in love. When I said no he said "ok if anything it's proof the government is tapping my phone."

I love him but idk how to handle any of this... how would you ladies react? what would you do?
