Endometriosis at 21?? Need advice

So I had my first gynaecologist consultation yesterday and when she asked about period pains I mentioned that the can be quite bad (been getting worse and have caused me to scream in pain and felt faint). 
She mentioned to me that I might have Endometriosis. She then suggested a surgery where they place a probe in through the naval to look for it and then burn any they find. 
My af is due 15/8 and today I've already started having cramps and pains ( I am aware that this is a symptom and it happens 9/10 times) 
I'm very concerned that this is a reality as I know it can cause fertility issues in the future; but I don't want to go in for surgery that isn't necessary. 
Can anyone give me advice?

Unfortunately the surgery (laparoscopy) is necessary if you want to confirm diagnosis of endo and to remove it. I would recommend going forward with it. It's a good idea to confirm you actually have it, the extent (stage) and then to remove it all in one go. You want to get on top of it before it becomes stage 4 and spreads to other organs/bowels. You must make sure your surgeon is skilled and specialized in endo. Excision is the best way to remove vs. burning it off. As mentioned by someone else, people may require future laps. We were TTC for a year and then had my lap. 3-4 months later became pregnant just as my surgeon predicted. Since becoming pregnant, I've had zero endo symptoms. Really hoping this pregnancy will cure me of it completely! It's an awful thing to live with. Also look into special endo diets that focus on eliminating inflammation. Good luck!

I found out at 21 and had my first surgery that day due to finding out I was pregnant, in the ER, and that's how they found it. I had an ectopic pregnancy which is why surgery happened in first place. I had another surgery done in 2016 and I will be having another one pretty soon again and I am only 25. Helped regulate my periods, scars are barely noticeable, they went through same scars both times, you feel very bloated for the most part so when you cough after surgery or sneeze use a pillow. Also have a pillow behind your back it will help as well.

It's a laparoscopic surgery so very minimally invasive. It's the only way to truly diagnose endometriosis. Also, I believe endometriosis can affect fertility, so if that's important to you I would take care of it.

I have endo. I had the surgery and was diagnosed at 26 and am now having fertility issues now that I am 28 (got married and started ttc this past year with no luck and now I need another surgery to clear my tubes again). Personally, I wish I would have done the surgery sooner. Many times people with endo end up having to have more surgeries in the future as Endometriosis can grow back in some people even after it is burned off, but had I known sooner I would have been able to get proper treatment and change my diet so that I could keep it from getting worse and affecting my fertility as bad as it did before I even knew. The surgery also helped make my periods less intense (shorter and less painful) and more regular (cycle ranges from 24-28 days whereas before it could range between 20-180 days). It's definitely worth it. The surgery is minimally invasive, I couldn't even see the scars after a year at all. And the recovery is about 6 weeks total (in three days I could walk around fine just felt weak, after a week I was pretty much back to normal, and it took 6 weeks before I could go back to my regular workout routine).
