Insurance is a Joke

Stephanie

I'm so upset right now. I am 26 years old and haven't had health insurance since I was 18 because I can't afford it. I bought what I thought was a decent plan, $300/month JUST for me, last winter when we started TTC. I don't have the option through work since I work just under full time. My husbands insurance through his work is awful and even more expensive. Anyway, so I have had an uncomplicated pregnancy so far, and the bills have started rolling in. Basically, my insurance is covering almost nothing. My hcg test to confirm pregnancy was $175, my insurance covered $12. My ultrasound at my intake appointment was $450. My insurance covered none. And the list goes on... I am so upset, does insurance usually not cover ANYTHING?! I spent a long time picking a plan that I thought was good. I'm going to get rid of it and not spend the $300/month if they are just going to charge me for literally everything! Is anyone else in the same boat?
