How effective are condoms alone for preventing pregnancy? Has anyone used this method alone long term and has actually worked? Please comment below, need advice!

Very effective. It was mine and my husband's preferred method for nearly 10 years. Only once in that time did I have a pregnancy scare, and it did turn out to be a chemical pregnancy.  Which was strange because at that time in our lives we were very vigilant about birth control as we were in college and we never had a broken condom or any accident with them.

Yes- k is correct. The reason they have a lower overall safety rating is that they're frequently misused. When used correctly, they're just about as effective as birth control.
