When is a good time to tell your kid their dad isn't their biological dad

The mom and non-biological dad are now broken up and shes remarried.

I'd never hide it. you can damage the relationship. my husband's friend found out his dad wasn't his biological dad when he was 24. his relationship with him has been effected badly. Hes very mad his dad never told him

as soon as possible!! my mom told me at my (who I thought was my dad( funeral when I was 17 and pregnant! damaged me very bad. I don't have anything to do with him!! he was who I thought was my real dad beat friend. and she did this at his funeral. so asap.

I don't think it's right to ever hide that kind of information from anyone, so I'd say let them know from the beginning.

I literally just went through this, my husband has raised my daughter since she was 10 months old she is now 12, I just told her a few months ago! B prepared for some anger! My daughter was so mad, she refuses to even acknowledge her bio dad, she says my hubby is her real dad and that's that! Good luck!!!

I didn't know i had a different father until I was 13. My mom never told me that I remember until I started asking questions on who my dad was. My dad left my mom when she got pregnant so I never had him in my life. Met him once and got to know him and that was a big mistake. He told me he didn't think I was his and believed my mom I was his and blah blah blah. I've been better off without a father my whole life but still hurts not having one. DON'T HIDE IT!

I found out I was 8. It killed me. I've struggled with Depression since. My biological sperm donor told he didn't want me, told my mom to have an abortion then went off and had 4 other kids and never bothered to be in my life. Now the man that raised me, even after my mom and him divorced,  has never loved me less and still sees me as HIS daughter. So if the exhusband is still in that child's life and loves him/her or as his own, don't say anything, especially if the bio father isn't in that child's life. In my personal experience it only does more harm than good.
