How to announce baby name?

Both I and my sons father have family names on each side of our family that everyone expects us to use. We have decided not to and chosen a name on our own but I'm scared to announce it for the backlash I'm sure to get. My shower is coming up and I know people will want to personalize things and I need to announce it. How do I tell people and deal with their opinions?

Wait until the baby is born. Then they will be less likely to try and convince you to change your mind because the baby is here and the birth certificate is signed. 
Also - not their baby not their choice.

Tell them you aren't announcing the name until birth.  If they get anything personalised,  they can use the baby's surname. It's your baby,  don't compromise yourself for them.

We have family traditions that I thought we'd be expected to use because the tradition had been going on for 4 generations but my mother in law said she figured we'd just use whatever names we wanted, and that she'd love the why no matter what! I bet your family will get over their hang ups and just love your LO to pieces :)

We had every single Name suggestion shot down when we were trying to figure it out. I ended up not telling anyone except my boyfriend any names I came up with. When I found the right name I KNEW I couldn't chose anything else. That was going to be her name no matter what. We did tell a few people since deciding and haven't had any backlash/negative comments yet. To actually announce her name, I am getting letters from the craft store and decorating them then assembling the letters to spell her name out in a short little video. That will be posted on social media
