Weird period

last month my period was way normal, I had cramps and everything. but I just had it not quite three weeks ago, and my cycle is typically 35 days, and I started having that weird brown stuff and I have had it for the last four days. My boyfriend and I had sex a few days after I got off my last period, and there was spotting type stuff on him, but I didn't spot after that. Can anyone give me any advice or tell me their thoughts on what it is?
