Calling your Child out of their Name????

Is it okay for a mother to call her daughter a bitch and a whore and use such language with her? Is it right for any parent to do so with any child? I've noticed that sometimes these things are normalized in certain cultures (not all or any particular one so please don't get offended, I'm only speaking of what I've observed in my culture and what some of my friends have told me about their experiences). Do you feel that this is right or only conditionally right? I'm only wondering for now and future reference.  To be quite honest, use of these words have sworn me off kids and men forever.  I'm scared that I'll treat my kids the same way and I feel dirty around men, as if I shouldn't be in close contact with or having a relationship.  Any tips to help or personal experience is greatly appreciated. If it helps, I'm 19, soon to be 20 and African American.

It is completely wrong for a parent to talk like that to their child regardless wheat age they are. It's just not right!m, that's my opinion....

2) some women use those words towards other females as a type of "reclamation" or in a playful, friendly manner. I really don't get it, and personally don't like it, so I never would. As long as it is meant in this way (and they aren't really calling their daughter those things) and the daughter is comfortable with it and old enough to understand, I don't really have any argument against others who chose to talk like this.

No it's never ok to call a child or anyone names. If you know their name, use it. If not,  ask so you can refer to them properly.

From a young age, I was called such words.
As I got older, I knew their meanings, I don't understand why someone would call it their daughter a whore or their mistress? My mother definitely has her screws loose.

I have witnessed parents calling children out of their name (lil' bit.. lil nig..). It's absolutely disgusting that it happens so much in our culture. I personally think is deplorable & should be seen as emotional abuse. At the end of the day, adults don't even like to be called out of their name but they call they're kids the same exact names. In your case I do not think that partnering with the right man will lead to this happening. I also do not think that you having children will force you to speak to them in an inappropriate manner. The first step is having knowledge of the inappropriateness of the behavior and changing for your child.

In my culture there are two kind of name calling, the angry one and the friendly one. For example, Cabrón means more or less Asshole, if you say "Eres un cabrón" (you are a asshoe) is an insult, if you say "Que cabrón eres" (What an asshole you are) is in a friendly manner.
Important note: We use it with friends not with our children.
