Retained placenta... again?

With my first I had retained placenta. Basically a month after I had my daughter I started bleeding out a ton and was passing pretty big clots. Long story short over the span of two weeks I ended up losing so much blood I ended up in emergency surgery to get a D&C; and a blood transfusion. Doctors said I was very close to not making it. Therefore, I am 8 weeks pregnant with our second and am scared it's going to happen again. Any mommas out there with similar situations?
